Qatar Charity (QC), a Doha based INGO - with significant regional capacity - is recruiting an accountant for its office based in Sana’a. QC works in the fields of sustainable development, poverty reduction and emergency response through initiating long term programs.
Job Purpose:
• Work on applying and further developing financial policies and procedures and internal control systems;
• Prepare, design, document and handle all the financial files and transactions within the office;
• Assist the Finance Manager based at HQ to take appropriate financial decisions;
• Carry out various standard accounting functions on daily basis including budget management, cash disbursements, cash receipts, petty cash management, currency exchanges, payrolls, bank reconciliations, collection and payment of relevant taxes to local authorities and other finance related tasks.
Key Responsibilities: • Apply all the necessary internal checks on all financial transactions and bank cheques, balance sheets etc,
• Lead the process of preparing the annual budget,
• Participate in project budgets preparations in collaboration with Programs Dept.
• Prepare and timely submit monthly and quarterly financial reports to HQ,
• Prepare bank accounts and make the necessary reconciliations,
• Ensure accurate maintenance of all financial and accounting files and transactions,
• Ensure that projects and programs expenses are consistent with allocated budgets and that projects’ disbursements are paid on time,
• Ensure timely payment of staff salaries and contractors and other expenditures,
• Make all the necessary verifications and ensure that all supporting documents are available – as per established procedures and norms – before making any payment,
• Ensure proper and adequate filing system for financial documents,
• Ensure accurate financial reporting from all QC’s Implementing Partners,
• Prepare all necessary information for internal or external audits and meet their requirements. Required skills and qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance or Accounting
• Certified Public Accountant
• Minimum of 3 years relevant experience
• Previous INGO experience is highly desirable
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Financial analysis skills
• Attention to detail and high integrity
• Good knowledge of financial reporting systems
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good computer skills with hands on experience on computerized accounting systems.
• Ability to use and handle accounting softwares.
