Job responsibilities include but not limited to preparing, checking, reviewing, modifying and approving of the following;
1. Instrument drawings, data sheets, I/O wiring diagrams designs and engineering.
2. Specifications and calculations.
3. Compliance with Company specifications.
4. Developing scope of works and technical requisitions for materials and services.
5. Material take off and cost estimates of projects.
6. Design and engineering calculations for sizing and selection of instruments.
7. Defining QA requirements and developing QC’s.
8. Company specifications and standards.
9. Evaluating bides technical proposals and recommend.
10. Understand DCS design requirements. Experience with Honeywell, Yokogawa or Emerson Delta V is a plus.
11. Understand PLCs and emergency shutdown system design and requirements.
12. Have a reasonable understanding of regulatory control.
13. Familiar with Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) HAZOP methodology.
14. Understands Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) Safety Integrity Level (SIL) and design philosophy.
Other job responsibilities include the followings duties;
• Capable of efficiently using software such as CAD or Micro-Stations to draw his own designs directly on in the system. He should be also capable of doing the work manually.
• Utilize draft men, CAD Operators to transform his designs into electronic drawings systems such as Micro-station, Auto-Cad, or other software. He shall be capable of efficiently assigning tasks to these individuals and check their work after completion.
• Candidate must be capable of planning, prioritizing, and organizing his work activities to achieve department objectives.
• Apply experience, engineering techniques, codes, standards, analysis calculations, specification, company procedures, sound judgment, and design criteria to conduct his work.
• Candidate shall be capable of collecting and searching for documents and drawings to do his work. He shall be capable of understanding P&ID’s, MSDS, connection lists, logic diagrams, layouts, underground drawings and any other types of drawings/documents needed to do the work.
• Ensure that all piping works done at company are per approved specifications.
• Prepare quality assurance and control documents.
• Ensures designs are safe, sound engineering, per approved standards, reliable, construct-able, conveniently operable and done in economical manner.
• Field inspection of work activities, surveying and measurement of quantities.
• Act as project engineer or lead engineer for instrumentation related projects/jobs.
• Work directly with project engineers, designers, CAD operators, and draft men to ensure work activities are coordinated. He may also be required to supervise and train these personnel.
• Calculations and preparation of design packages.
• Review vendor / contractor proposals and documents and shop drawings.
• Responsible to plan and conduct independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
• Devise new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices 1. Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Electrical/System Engineering (BS) from an accredited university.
2. Minimum of 12 years of design experience with engineering firms or with design offices.
3. Capable of designing all loop diagrams, I/O wiring, connection list etc.
4. Very experienced in sizing and calculating process instrument by manual calculations and by using software.
5. Very conversant in NEC, NFPA, ISA, IEEE, IEC.
6. Experienced in Intools, Micro-Station and Auto-Cad.
7. Knowledge of international and industry standards and codes.
8. Very experienced in Microsoft suite of applications.
9. Capable of writing narrative scopes of works.
