Prioritising and Assigning Work ?Prioritise work programmes and decide upon the projects to be handled to meet overall plan objectives. ? Form project teams and assign work, ensuring the expected outcome, project deadlines, standards and milestones are conveyed clearly to team members for effective project implementation. Studies and Analyses ? Implement research studies and analyses (from physical, economic, demographic and social perspectives) to study the existing situation in the development area under review. ? Utilise results from studies to prepare effective detailed plans for respective geographical areas under own area of responsibility and to add policies and guidelines in discussion with the regional manager. Project Monitoring ? Monitor on a daily basis the various projects being managed by teams under own area of responsibility to ensure progress is as per the plan. ? Provide technical advice, resolve issues relating to projects and advise the teams wherever needed in order to facilitate timely and effective progress of their projects. ? Implement relevant standards, controls and risk-assessment measures to maximise the effectiveness of project management processes. Reporting to the Higher Level ? Provide reports to the Senior Planning Manager on a regular basis to update on key aspects of projects being implemented by the teams. ? Seek the intervention of the Senior Planning Manager where necessary to overcome challenges or delays that may hold up projects. ? Prepare periodic MIS reports on key issues for the senior management to keep them informed. Relationships with External Agencies ? Implement the process of liaison with the multiple external agencies involved in the translation of the UPC mandate and Master Plan objectives into work plans (e.g. Municipalities in the regions, Government departments etc.) to ensure effective working relations. ? Utilize this interface to develop and maintain professional networks and partnerships with these external agencies. ? Orient and educate the respective local bodies and Municipalities about policies + guidelines that are part of the UPC mandate to create a shared understanding on development issues. Contact and Coordination with Internal Departments ? Maintain effective coordination and regular contact with all relevant internal departments of UPC to progress the planning agenda of the teams under own area of responsibility. ? Attend and organise cross-functional, inter-department meetings and workshops to ensure shared understanding of plan outcomes and expectations. ? ? Supervision of Subordinates ? Organise and supervise the activities and work of subordinates to ensure that all work within own area of responsibility is carried out in an efficient manner which is consistent with operating procedures and policy. ? Planning and organizational skills ? Analytical skills ? Presentation and communicating skills ? Application of technical expertise and knowledge ? Working with People ? Persuading and influencing COMPUTER SKILLS: ? AutoCAD drafting software or similar ? Adobe Creative Suite ? 3D Modelling Sketch Up, Rhino, VIZ, Max or similar. ? Microsoft Office ? Arc GIS a plus ?
