Save the Children in Yemen is looking for eligible candidates for the position of: Finance Officer - Based in Lahj ROLE PURPOSE: To ensure that the record-keeping for the field office is kept in accordance with the generally accepted accounting principals (GAAP) and that all financial plans, budgets, contracts, agreements and records are kept up to date and secured for access by authorized personnel only. KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: • Maintain book-keeping and entries to Agresso on daily bases (GLACOS) • Ensure that all financial systems and records are kept in an accurate and up to date manner • Supervise the Filing and maintain the accounting and financial records as per GAAP general instructions from the Management Guidelines. • Ensure complete compliance with the SC Policies and Procedures. • To assist in preparation the budgets for the local and area office when required and to prepare and update the cash budgets when needed. • Ensure the preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports on timing and in accordance with Technical and Line Manager instructions. • Ensure that all expenses are supported by adequate documentation with authorized signature and will pass the audit test. • Oversee petty cash and ensure that the funds are available at all times for the implementation of the activities. • To assist the auditors as required. • Supervise and monitor advances given out to staff for field operation and assure timely accounting • Supervise and monitor the payment of volunteer stipends • Ensure that expenses are properly coded prior to commitment. • Assist budget holders with budget monitoring and transparent allocation of pooled costs to different grant budgets • Assist budget holders with budget forecasting and revision • Participate in regular budget monitoring meetings at field level • Any other duty as may be assigned by the Head of office, Technical supervisor or Area Manager. Occasional Significant Duties • Cover the position in other places. • Visit other duty stations and perform duties as assigned Requirements: • 3 years relevant work experience • Bachelors’ Degree in Commerce, Business Administration. • Candidates having professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA or ICSA or equivalent will be preferred. • Candidates having experience working with an International NGO and knowledge of Agresso system will be preferred. • Excellent command of Computer software programs such as Excel, Word, MS Access • Able to communicate professionally in English and Arabic.
