Job Title: Media Head of Unit

Duration of Contract: 4 Months with possibility of extension
1. Lead the media unit and provide close supervision to the media team and tasks that include the editorial team, website, social media, videography and photography, graphic design and media monitoring.
2. Plan, develop and implement various media strategies & editorial policies and tasks.
3. Provide advice and expertise to the Communication Manager on a range of public affairs and communications issues, methods, and approaches; manage the design of information tools and guidelines as well as media-related activities, events and engagement.
4. Prepare or oversee preparation of a diverse range of information communications products in support of the Project’s initiatives; produce marketing and reporting brochures, audio-visual and events materials in liaison with internal and external graphic designers.
5. Organize media coverage and arrange for media contacts, briefings, interviews; issue press releases, organize seminars, lectures, conferences, public events on major issues concerning the project’s activities.
6. Build information networks; plan and develop outreach activities; manage publications, produce materials for print/electronic/voice/visual media.
7. Ensure proper vendor management involving liaison with a variety of external suppliers (e.g. designers, media agencies, printers, translators, etc).
8. Prepare any documents, presentations and speeches when required by the Communication Manager or top management.
9. Develop appropriate reporting formats to meet all reporting requirements of the project (including government, donors and implementing partners).
10. Establish a reporting schedule for all supervisees and ensure the timely submission of reports as identified.
11. Produce high quality reports (including presentations) according to the project’s needs to be distributed both internally and externally (predominantly monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc reports) according to its obligations and on an ad hoc basis as required.
12. Provide quality assurance, including data verification, on all reports and information products produced by the Project by editing and consolidating all reports prepared by units within the Project for external distribution.
13. Perform any other task assigned by the Department Manager. a. Education
• University degree in media or relevant field. A combination of academic qualifications and media management experience will be considered. b. Work Experience
• Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience in journalism, communications or public relations, project development, report writing, strategic planning including experience at the international level.
• Good knowledge of the situation and challenges for development assistance projects in Yemen. Prior working experience in the region will be an asset.
• Computer literate, in particular MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent spoken and written English. Working knowledge of Arabic is an asset. c. Key Competencies
