This position reports to the Director, Office of Industry Engagement and Technology Transfer. * Serve as a point of contact for corporate inquiries and partnership opportunities from both external and internal constituents * Implement activities to support faculty and staff engagement with non-academic partners; be responsible for identification and engagement of commercial partners; and ensure communication of information on collaborative opportunities. * Manage the negotiation of industrial collaborative/partnership agreements and other contracts (such as confidentiality agreements, options and licenses) ensuring conformity with University policies and procedures * Follow up the progress of collaboration/partnership implementation with relevant stakeholders. * Help identify technologies best commercialized by university and collaborate with appropriate organizations to provide support. * Develop and maintain strong working relationship with departments, colleges, and research centers/institutes to disseminate information regarding technology transfer and intellectual property. * Advise on the application of intellectual property policy and relevant regulations. * Effective and persuasive communicator with excellent interpersonal, networking and organizational skills, demonstrated by the ability to build and maintain an active network of internal and external contacts * Manage the development of appropriate systems to support industry engagement and technology transfer function. * Manage various personnel functions as delegated by the Director including, but not limited to, hiring, setting goals and objectives, managing daily activities, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules. * Coordinate with other University offices to include Office of Research Support, External Relations, Information Technology, Finance and Budget; Institutional Research and Planning; General Counsel; centers, institutes; and colleges. * Support the Director in determining fiscal requirements and preparing budgetary recommendations; and monitoring expenditure of budgeted funds. * Participate in organizing and delivering training to department staff, and to faculty. * Manage and support the development, disclosure, and protection of the university’s intellectual property. * Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. * The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this classification. This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties required of personnel so classified. A minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably more, in the area building long term relationships with commercial partners, work experience in higher education and particularly in science/engineering is important. Experience in a fast paced entrepreneurial environment is highly desired. Successful candidates should have demonstrated knowledge of technology transfer life cycle, including intellectual property protection and the ability to guide research programs toward commercialization goals. They should also have experience in interfacing with corporate clients and strong communication and persuasive skills. Bachelor or above - Engineering or a Science Related field Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research was inaugurated on 13 February 2007 by the President of the UAE: His Highness Sheik Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The board of Trustees which is chaired by His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces was announced on 26 February 2008. KUSTAR is an Abu Dhabi Government initiative and is owned solely by the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The University opened its new interim campus in Abu Dhabi on October 2008 to add to the campus in Sharjah (formerly Etisalat University College). The university's permanent Abu Dhabi campus is currently being developed. The Sharjah branch campus has a very proud 18-year history and on 11 February 2008 was merged with the Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research.
