Purpose The Protection Assistant, under the supervision of the Protection Officer, is primarily responsible for supervising protection-monitoring activities of DRC’s local partners; assist them in collecting protection data, protection assessments, analyzing and reporting against protection incidents and concerns of IDPs, Returnees and conflict-affected communities in DRC’s targeted areas. The position holder assists the Protection Officer in maintaining relations with various stakeholders and service providers, verify and document protection incidents and concerns, as well as conducting follow-ups at the field level to ensure successful interventions. Main Responsibilities of Protection Assistant  Monitoring, Referral, Assessment and Profiling:  -    Conduct protection monitoring in coordination with DRC’s partner CBOs. -    Conduct field visits, establish local networks, joint observation spots, joint verification missions and any other monitoring means in the course of the protection monitoring activities,  -    Through the partner CBOs, gather information on existing protection risks and concerns;  -    Conduct verification, analysis and report against the monitored incidents and concerns using the project’s internal reporting formats.  -    Gather top-level information needed for advocacy and planning to ensure better protection of civilians and particular vulnerable groups (PWSN), returnees and conflict affected communities.  -    Conduct vulnerability assessment for each vulnerable individual identified by DRC’s monitoring activities.  -    Collect information on basic living conditions and specific issues of concern among IDPs, returnees and conflict affected communities on a need basis;  -    Collect baseline data through assessment and profiling on a need basis; -    Conduct physical verification of protection cases submitted by the CBOs on a case-to-case basis.  Case Management: -    Record each incident and protection concern separately using the DRC’s field visit reporting format after each field visit. -    Respond appropriately through referring cases internally to the Protection Officer. Maintain clear records of all the monitored cases by using INTERNAL REFERRAL FORM. -    Ensure uploading of the Database through proper coordination with the Database Responsible person;  Documentation and Learning:  -    Report on capacity building activities, support good practice capitalization and documentation;  -    Develop and support DRC’s documentation system -    Coordinate and monitor any activities related to capacity building;  -    Perform any other duties as may be requested by the supervisor   Qualifications & skills Education:   -    University degree in political science, social since or law,   Experience:  -    At least one year relevant work experience. Skills:  -    Excellent English and good knowledge of Yemen local context -    Excellent communication and analytical skills -    Knowledge of international law and/or human rights principles -    Computer skills  -    Ability to handle multiple tasks; proven self-initiative and problem solving abilities; -    Willingness to travel within Yemen; -    Team Player -    A commitment to protecting human rights.   Application Process: The Protection Assistant reports to the Protection Officer.
