Ref: LP119-168 Provide pragmatic and pro-active human resource advisory and consultancy service to Serco People
Managers covering all areas of the employee lifecycle including performance, disciplinary, grievance,
recruitment, attendance management and restructuring consistent with employee standards, legislation
and guidelines. Supports their business areas in the achievement of business objectives through the
implementation of excellent people management strategies.
Key Responsibilities
• Works with Shared Service management and the HR Manager to implement strategies that
support business objectives;
• Supports the HR Manager in design and implementation of strategies within their contracts to
enable the achievement of business objectives and align to wider Serco Group HR strategy;
• Advises people managers and employees regarding issues related to procedures and policies
and ensures that all employees work within the defined policy & procedures;
• Manages end-to-end and timely closure of disciplinary, performance, reward, talent, grievance
cases and absence management for all employees and escalates cases, as required, to the
HR Manager;
• Provides advice and coaching to people managers and employees across their contracts on
employee relations, performance management, talent management and absence
management;
• Creates and continually updates induction programme materials and makes recommendations
for changes to the HR Manager;
• Supports the HR Manager in the implementation and monitoring of the Performance
Management process, including training people managers and employees;
• Ensures the quality of employee development plans, including performance or behavioural
improvement plans to ensure that development plans and career planning is clear and the
business is staffed with talented motivated people who play to their strengths to meet the
business needs;
• Delivers training appropriate to support the implementation of people management initiatives or
to embed policies and procedures;
• Ensures position descriptions and contract specific procedures are updated and
recommendations for continuous improvement made to the HR Manager;
• Supports major change programmes;
• Supports the annual pay review process and ensures performance rating data and disciplinary
information is readily available to people managers;
• Performs job evaluation within their contracts and provides evaluation recommendations to the
HR Business Partner for verification;
• Implements and monitors the Nationalisation programme within their contracts and reports
results to contract management and HR BP/Manager;
Leads the exit interview process, collecting and reporting accurate data and providing analysis
of trends to the HR Manager, HR Business Partner and contract management
• Undertakes analysis of people related metrics, data and trends, provides recommendations to
the HR Manager, and regularly communicates with people managers to address identified
employee relations issues across the business
• Is a point of escalation for MyHR and HR Advisors for more complex queries
• Provides guidance and coaching to HR Advisors in relation to HR delivery, administrative and
operational services and SAP processes
• Acts as primary contact for information and advice regarding Serco HR procedures and
processes and employment legislation
• Acts in accordance with the Governing Principles of Serco at all times and is a champion of the
Governing Principles within their contracts
• Perform and carry out other duties as instructed / directed by the Human Resources Manager.
Knowledge
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. A recognised HR qualification (CIPD or equivalent) is
preferred;
• Strong knowledge of HR best practice;
• Knowledge of local employment legislation.

Experience
• Minimum of 5 years’ generalist/operational HR experience;
• Experience of handling complex employee relations cases, including redundancies,
restructures, disciplinary and grievance cases;
• Experience of coaching and influencing people managers;
• Middle East experience is preferred.
