Ref: HP031-1438 Executive Solutions in partnership with Faithful+Gould / Atkins are looking to recruit a Senior Design Manager– Buildings (including Education) for their Multi-Billion projects in Abu Dhabi.

The senior design manager supervises, oversees, coordinates, directs, executes the design of new, altered or modified works in the project manager remit ,and is responsible for ensuring that the work is completed on time, within budget and to the quality specified, making assignments that achieve budget objectives for the design and implementation of projects. The senior design manager manages the preparation of project plans, construction and bid documents, and cost estimates, coordinates with other staff as necessary.
The senior design manager’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Ensuring that the design meets the client intent and is properly coordinated.
• Developing and implementation of value engineering concepts.
• Ensuring that the design meets the relevant standards and is delivered in accordance with best market practices.
• Ensuring that the design is properly coordinated.
• Ensuring that the design consultant(s) are fulfilling their duties.
• Initiating and maintaining standard procedures for managing all consultants.
• Ensuring that the design is available in accordance with the project time-line.
• Ensuring that all drawings are prepared in strict compliance with the standards set.
• Initiating and maintaining all necessary document logs for drawings, specifications, technical reviews and all other similar documents.
• Conducting necessary reviews at 30% concept design, 60% preliminary design and 90% final design to ensure compliance with the client’s brief, intent, cost and time and provide recommendation for improvement.
• Conducting constructability and bid ability reviews on all design bid documents.
• Ensuring that all bid documents are error-free, completed on time and that all ambiguities are resolved.
• Coordinating with the construction manager throughout the whole tendering process.
• Participating in bid evaluations, bid recommendations and preferred bidder for award.
• Assessing technical design reports and provide recommendations.
• Ensuring that all contractor prepared shop drawings are available on time.
• Ensuring smooth communication between the consultants and contractors
• Initiating and maintaining all necessary logs and tools, as necessary, for the management of the submittal and approval processes.
• Ensuring that systems are in place to produce coordinated ad integrated shop drawings.
• Working along with the construction manager as required to resolve issues related to design and coordination across projects.
• Reporting on whether any changes are fair and reasonable and recommending approval / disapproval to the construction manager.
To be shortlisted for this role you will have a minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Architecture) with a total of 20years working experience out of which 5 years working in the UAE or GCC.
You will also have experience working on large scale mixed residential development’s including educational and schooling facilities.
