Save the Children in Yemen is looking for eligible candidates for the position of: Reproductive Health Officer - Based in Lahj Role Purpose:
The RH Officer will report to the Health and Nutrition Coordinator. The post holder will lead the reproductive health component of Save the Children’s health programmes in Lahj – including doing rapid assessment, designing program strategy and monitoring system, implementation of RH program, provision of leadership in the start-up and technical quality of the programmatic components in safe motherhood, family planning, Post Abortion Care services and gender-based violence. The postholder will also represent the agency in the reproductive health taskforce, and ensure that appropriate documentation is created (situation reports, progress report).
Key Areas of Accountability: • Regularly update program management and monitoring tools and maintain database for tracking progress and effectively delivering reproductive health programs in target areas.
• Management of the emergency reproductive health program including the provision of technical support, training and capacity building, representation and control of financial and other resources.
• Provide technical guidance to support MoH, Save the Children staff in implementation of RH program and Community Mobiliser and outreach staff/volunteers at project sites/local communities.
• Generate timely high quality reports, program briefings, presentations, publications and IEC materials, maintain RH grant files, RH photo-gallery and documentation of success stories from the field.
• Maintain an overview of reproductive health related developments and contribute to assessing reproductive health needs of mothers in emergencies; contribute to H&N program development & learning.
• Maintain and provide all health facilities by reproductive health documents related to standards, practices and policies
• In coordination with field teams, conduct assessments of structural facilities, staff, and communities to determine obstacles and challenges in accessing and addressing RH care needs.
• Work with Health Program staff to develop work plans to guide implementation of the program . Support the Field teams in the implementation and monitoring of the work plans ensuring that activities reflect the commitments SCI made to the donor and the community.
• Work with health manager on development of easy and user-friendly data collection tools, and ensure that data is analyzed, interpreted and used appropriately
• Work with health program staff to periodically monitor the quality of RH care in SCI health facilities using standard quality of care tools based on Sphere Minimum standards and WHO guidelines.
• Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.
• Represent Save the Children at Reproductive health working group meetings or other relevant forum, when required.
• Comply with the requirements of Save the Children’s child protection policies and other HR policies.
• Perform other tasks and responsibilities as may occasionally be required to ensure the smooth
• functioning of the Health & Nutrition department. Requirements: • Medical staff with good experience ( 2-3 years ) in reproductive health programs especially in Family planning and post abortion care.
• Knowledge on SPHERE standards, Health and Nutrition in Emergencies is desirable.
• Willingness and ability to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of emergencies
• Ability to analyze information, evaluate options, and follow the strategic directions as guided.
• An in-depth understanding of national development issues in particular in relation to children.
• Previous experience of working with a multi-cultural team and the adaptability to varied team dynamics
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
• Fluency in written and spoken English & Arabic .
