With immediate effect the GIZ Office Sana’a invites applications from qualified Yemeni nationals for the following position:
• Position: Advisor

• Post Location: Sana’a Responsibilities
• managing the Human Rights (HR) approach of the TSP and coordinate the activities in this field with governmental institutions and Civil Society Organizations.
• assisting TSP initiatives to provide professional advisory services on the field of human rights.
• cooperating and coordinating with human rights national, regional and international stakeholders.
• supporting other activities in the frame of the TSP.
• contribute to the monitoring-system of the programme. Main Tasks
• assists and monitors the development and implementation of project/programme plans and activities in close consultation with counterparts.
• contributes to preparing and implementing the coordination process, joint project/programme activities and work at the regional level.
• deals with the design, preparation and implementation of workshops, seminars and other events on issues connected with the project/programme’s area of activity.
• develops and organises quality assurance measures and suggests necessary changes, improvements and initiatives.
• undertake and monitor the development and implementation of human rights activities in close consultation with partners, for example, but not limited to, CSOs and relevant gov’t entities.
• supports cooperation, regular contact and dialogue with HR partners.
• communicates local interests and efforts, forwards these and encourages sharing ideas and information for the benefit of the project/programme.
• assists with PR work and cooperates with local communities, relevant organisations, non-governmental agencies and individuals in human rights environment and with other donor projects to improve and maintain good working relationships.
• develops ready-to-use strategies and technical concepts, including guidelines, manuals and procedures.
• prepares appropriate input for various project/programme reports including annual reports, and contributes to the other reports required by the programme manager and GIZ Head Office.
• assists with research activities and studies on political issues which benefit joint programmes.
• develops in close partnership with human rights stakeholders’ ready-to-use strategies and technical concepts, including guidelines, manuals and procedures, if required.
• assists with general project planning and develops project concepts including preparation, organisation and moderation of planning exercises and their implementation, management, monitoring, quality management, evaluation, communication and documentation.
• coordinates relevant project activities at local level in consultation with the manager and in cooperation with the partners, both as regards implementation and preparing organisational aspects.
• handles order management on behalf of GIZ (e.g. offer preparation, impact monitoring, project progress review, reporting).
• performs other duties and tasks at the request of management. Required qualifications, competences and experience
• masters/MSc in an area that is related to the project/programme objectives, with a focus on a relevant field.
• at least 5 years of professional experience in the field of human rights with CSOs and/or international organization.
• very good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office).
• fluent written and oral knowledge of English language and a working knowledge of German.
• willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management.
• ability to evaluate analytically the human rights environment/context of Yemen.
• able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• knowledge of human rights legislations, civil rights and collective agreements.
• understanding and sensitivity to the human rights principles and inter-group relations. Application Process
