Ref: OP200-04 The Flight Operations Military Domain Expert liaises with several key stakeholders, including Air Force military personnel, applications delivery staff, development teams, third party consultants, to define and analyse requirements and processes necessary to enhance and maintain Air Force IT military systems.
Responsible for the ownership of the processes implemented in the system within their assigned domain. Manages, schedules and conducts training to end users. Participates in the required phases of the software development life cycle.
Provide consultancy in the field of air force flight operations
Devise high level IT solutions within domain and present to senior military personnel and other sponsors/stakeholders
Describe and communicate the benefits of a project to obtain senior military personnel understanding, support and approval
Elicit requirements using interviews, requirements workshops, site visits, surveys and analysis of existing documents
Evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, remove ambiguity, reconcile conflicts, decompose high level information into details, compile low level information into a general understanding, and distinguish end user requests from real business / military requirements
Proactively communicate and collaborate with client representatives to analyse information needs and functional requirements
Develop excellent knowledge of the client’s environment and understanding of the effect of any requested changes
Serve as the conduit between the client and development and maintenance teams and provide clarification of requirements
Collaborate with development teams and subject matter experts to establish technical vision and analyse trade-offs between usability and performance needs.
Prepare training material and other informational material, conduct training in systems used to deliver and support military processes within area of expertise
Skills:
Deep knowledge in military flights systems, with experience in flight operations’ standards, procedures, and practices
Strong analytical skills
Proven experience and confident manner interacting directly with end users
Results orientated with good communication and interpersonal skills
Proven team leading and mentoring experience
Capable of influencing cross-functional teams without formal authority
Excellent people management experience with ability lead teams and set direction
Self-motivated, pro-active, detailed oriented, fast learner, organised, energetic and flexible to perform various tasks
Qualifications:
Served in Armed Forces as Officer in the field of Air Force operations
Qualified instructor with experience gained in military environment
Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering discipline
Experience and broad knowledge of military ERP systems
Knowledge of a recognized project management methodology, ideally PMP
Good written and oral communication skills
Arabic speaking preferred - but not essential
Advanced 10-15 years or Expert 15+ years in military domain
Experience as Flight Instructor is a preference
