U.S. EMBASSY SANA’A VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT NUMBER: 38/13 OPEN TO: All Interested Candidates POSITION: Electrician, FSN-05 WORK HOURS: Full Time (40 hours/week) SALARY: a) FSN-04 (Trainee Level) US$8,360 per year starting salary plus US$3,000 in benefits and allowances. Upon satisfactory completion of trainee period of not less than 12 months and confirmation of the appointment the incumbent will be promoted to b) FSN-5 (Full Performance Level) US$9,354 per year starting salary plus US$3,000 in benefits and allowances BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION: Under the general supervision of the Facility Management Officer and the direct supervision of the maintenance supervisor performs minor and major electrical repairs to Embassy properties. S/he is responsible on diagnostics and preventive maintenance on the Embassy’s electrical systems and equipment. In addition, is responsible for all electrical installations, modifications, repairs, etc. as deemed necessary in connection with all electrical systems and such equipment as automatic transfer switch, circuit breakers, transformers, disconnect switches, motor starters and control panels. The incumbent also installs new electrical circuits, new generators, and installs new equipment. Also, assist in performing residential maintenance with other tasks. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item. A. Education: Completion of elementary school is required as well as completion of a vocational training program/apprenticeship in electrical systems is required. B. Prior Work Experience: Incumbent must have a minimum of four years journeyman level experience with a minimum of one year training on electrical systems. C. Language Proficiency: Level III (good working knowledge) English language and Level IV (Fluent) Arabic language is required. D. Job Knowledge: Knowledge of US standards for electrical systems and safety requirements related thereto. E. Skills and Abilities: S/he must be fully capable to perform in the redesign, operation and maintenance of all residential electrical systems. Ability to read from building plans, blueprints and electrical diagrams and must have current driving license and ability to operate light truck and other motor vehicles.
