Organization:         International Organization for Migration Duty Station:          Sana’a  Title of Position:   National Public Health Officer  Grade:                    NO-A (UN Salary Scale) Unit:                       Migrants Health Programme Unit Deadline:              5 December 2013.   Duration:               6 initially months, renewable         Working under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of Migrants Assistance and Protection Project Manager and the IOM Sana’a Head of Office, the incumbent will be responsible for activities implemented by the Migrants Assistance and Health Unit in Sana’a Yemen  on a wide-range of issues associated with humanitarian response and beyond. In particular s/he will:    1.    Identify new project opportunities and assist the Migration Health Programmer Coordinator in developing project proposals on migration health including but not limited to health needs of conflict-affected populations, victims of trafficking, irregular migrants, and other mobile populations and their host communities.  2.    Support the management of migration health activities as appropriate, including staff management and financial oversight, notably on nutrition, public health management of communicable diseases and MHPSS projects. 3.    Develop improved systems for regular monitoring and reporting on health project achievements, challenges/early warning system, and strategic needs.  4.    Coordinate the implementation of IOM’s Migration Health activities with the Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP) and the UN Country Team partners, and work with relevant health authorities in identifying gaps and needs related to the health of migrants. 5.    Monitor and evaluate the quality of medical care provided to IOM beneficiaries to ensure that it is up to national and IOM global standards. 6.    Develop training modules and materials, and act as trainer/ facilitator in IOM’s Migration Health trainings in close coordination with the Migration Health Progamme Coordinator.  7.    Ensure the confidentiality of the medical information of IOM beneficiaries. 8.    Represent IOM Yemen in national and regional task-forces and working groups on migration health related issues. 9.    Undertake duty travels as required. 10.    Undertake other related duties as assigned.   Qualifications and skills: a.    Completed Master degree from accredited academic institutions in Public Health, or an equivalent combination of training and experience; b.    Three years of professional experience in the domain of public health, including in the context of humanitarian situations; c.    Experience in project development and management.  d.    Proven skills in coordinating multidisciplinary teams and establishing and maintaining working relations with senior government officials, UN agencies, NGOs and Donors, including familiarity with the humanitarian cluster system;  e.    Demonstrated ability to identify, approach, and coordinate with stakeholders of diverse backgrounds and levels of expertise;  f.    Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct staff and create team oriented envi-ronment;  g.    Demonstrated ability and willingness to work in difficult areas/situations; and drive for results;   h.    Strong level of analytical skills and computer literacy.   Application Process Interested candidates should send their resume and the cover letter in English (indicating clearly the position applied for on the subject line) via email to [email protected] Only the short listed candidates will be contacted.   .   Please see "Application Process" above
