Save the Children in Yemen is looking for eligible candidates for the positions of:
Child Protection Assistant Based in Taiz.
ROLE PURPOSE:
To assist in the implementation and monitoring of SC protection programs in cfw and livelihoods intervention areas in Taiz.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: • Under the support of the CP unit, will plan, develop and implement child protection activities.
• Prepare plans and budgets for trainings and activities that will be conducted in CFW and Livelihoods intervention areas.
• Under the direction of the FSL Programme Officer and Manager, provide support with the other Assistant to each project activity according to needs and to ensure timely delivery.
• Asset Creation: Assist an Engineer in assessing sites, preparing BoQs and designs, and following procurement.
• Vocational Training: Assist Project Officers in assessing needs and selecting beneficiaries, identifying Master Trainers and arranging specific courses, collecting attendance, procuring materials,
• Cash for Work: Assist Community Mobilizer in developing beneficiary and distribution lists, collecting attendance lists, following up work progress, cash/voucher/asset transfer, and managing CFW monitors.
• Conduct child protection awareness activities for parents and help parents conducting awareness activities in the communities.
• Conduct child protection and child rights trainings for children in target areas.
• Support administrative tasks such as preparing Purchase Requests.
• Prepare reports for the supervisor with statistical and narrative information on the progress of the protection activities in the target areas.
• Work in close collaboration with other SC staff (Wash, Education, etc.) in the target areas – develop joint work plans.
• With the support of the PSS officer will conduct hearings with parents and community members.
• With the support of the CP training officer will conduct personal hygiene and SRHR trainings.
Any other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: • At least a diploma or bachelor degree in Sociology, Social Sciences, Psychology or any other related field.
• 2 years experience in a similar post, preferably with NGOs
• One year experience working in Community Mobilization activities (ex. extension/outreach work, campaign and awareness raising, thematic promotion activities with communities, gathering people)
• Protection / community development experience.
• Experience working in food security, public health, nutrition, construction, and/or education activities.
• Ability to organize time and manage multiple tasks on different topics at one time.
• Good attitude, hardworking, and able to take initiative and problem solve independently.
• Ability to verbally communicate with rural populations (in Arabic) and resolve conflicts.
• Knowledge of the areas of intervention (Taiz) and ability to relate with stakeholders.
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively to the field, sometimes in difficult or insecure circumstances.
• Training skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Capacity to work with a team.
• Capacity to work under pressure.
• Computer skills in word, excel, PowerPoint..
