Vacancy Announcement: The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a private, independent, non-government organisation working with refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants. DRC Yemen operates within a broader regional context including the Horn of Africa. Duty Station: Abs, Hajjah governorate Duration: one year, with a 3 month probation period and a possible extension beyond 2013 depending on performance the availability of funds. Key Responsibilities: Post-holders are in charge of conducting vulnerability assessments and follow- up, and counselling support for vulnerable refugees and migrants arriving at reception centers during registration. • Conduct in-depth vulnerability screening of new arrivals arriving along the Red Sea/Gulf of Aden coast as well as stranded migrants residing or transiting along the path of patrols. • Coordinate with the Protection Monitoring Staff to identify persons of concern and conduct interviews using the Risk Assessment Tool. • Provide psychosocial counselling to people most at risk. • Follow standard operating procedures (SOP) for dealing with immediate referrals, urgent protection issues, etc. • Report special cases immediately to Protection Monitoring Officer/Field Supervisor. • Submit on a daily basis lists and forms of assessed cases to Protection Monitoring Officer, with a monthly compilation of the cases assessed submitted to the DRC Aden Office. • Coordinate with the Protection Monitoring Officer on the provision of specific assistance to persons deemed to be extremely vulnerable. • Undertake registration when and as required. • Support the Protection Monitoring Officer in writing monthly reports with analyses of identified and counselled vulnerable cases. • Perform other duties or tasks as assigned by field supervisor and relevant Aden-based managers. Qualifications: • Relevant university degree, preferably in psychology, social work, or related field. • Minimum 2 years of previous field experience with refugee, IDPs or other vulnerable groups. • At least 1 year of counselling experience. • Previous experience with Information Management System and/or data process (participative survey, focus group, interviews) • Good IT skills; • Good command of MS word, excel and email software; • Proficiency in English & Arabic is essential, preferably with a good command of Somali, Oromo or Amharic ; • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective and working relations with local and international staff and other stakeholders; • Good understanding of refugee and protection related issues • Excellent organizational skills, self-motivated and efficient, with willingness to pay attention to details. • Very honest and trustworthy person. • Able to work under pressure and willing to work under harsh field conditions. • This position is for Yemeni Nationals.
