1. Raw Material Planning - Ensures that forecasting & planning of Materials are managed in a manner that meets the set goals and objectives. - Prevents shortage of raw materials that will affect shop production. - Conducts monthly inventory meetings together with the immediate head to take approval for ordered quantities. - Ensures that the value or orders are justified and within the budget. - Checks the quantities made in the purchase requisitions and follows up with Purchasing Buyer to ensure that purchase orders are released without affecting the lead time. - Follows up to receive information of Ordered Raw Material and expedite if necessary. 2. Tentative Material List Records - Requests for Tentative Material Lists (TML) from Engineering Designers and Supervisors. - Checks the accuracy of TMLs and coordinates with Engineering for any discrepancies. - Converts TMLs into document files and enters them into the Oracle system to come up with forecasted usages and segregates the data monthwise. - Updates the records for regular changes in the Master Fabrication Schedule (MFS). - Merges the on hand, ordered and consumption values to come up with required orders. 3. Ordering of Non-Standard Raw Material Items - Coordinates with Engineering Designers for any non-standard raw material requirements. - Releases orders for these items based on specifications and sizes required. - Organizes with Customer Service Engineers the special requirements of pre-painted coils in regards to special color or thickness and releases orders based on these requirements. 4. Control of Raw Material Inventory Turnover Ratio - Works to increase the Raw Material Inventory Turnover Ratio towards the target set by the Management. - Avoids excess ordering of slow moving raw material items. 5. Control of Rejected and Obsolete Raw Material Items - Works to reduce the value of rejected and obsolete raw material items on hand. 6. 5S, Kaizen, Suggestions - Ensures strict compliance of everyone to 5S, Kaizen and other suggested systems to improve work productivity. - Helps employees in collecting data to come up with useful suggestions to help the department. - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline, focus is on Civil or Mechanical. - Minimum of 3 years working experience as Material Planning Engineer or any similar function in a Steel Fabrication Shop. - Documentation and Records Management - Excellent Communication Skills in English language (oral and written) - Proficiency in MS Office Applications and other desktop utilities. - Exposure to Oracle Applications is a must. - Sound knowledge in Warehousing and Procurement.
