The General Manager is a key member to Dubai Community Theatre & Arts Centre (DUCTAC)hierarchy and reports to the board of Directors.
The responsibilities and job requirements of the GM includes, but are not limited to: Assisting individual projects and annual budgeting, fundraising, marketing, community and funder relations, long-term planning, sponsorships, and event-co-ordination.
The GM is responsible for overseeing the entirety of Dubai Community Theatre & Art Centre's operations and development to implement the artistic, cultural and educational vision arts industry.
The GM is to ensure a work environment that is collaborative, cooperative and respectful for all staff and contractors, to facilitate timely decision-making, and to foster a creative productive and equitable work ethos.
The role is a highly self-directed position requiring a person with a wide range of skills, adaptability, sensitivity and initiative.
It also required flexibility and involves unconventional working hours surrounding shows and events.
Functions:
- Oversee and assist in the creation, review and implementation of DUCTAC business procedures.
- Oversee and assist where required the coordination of daily operations.
- Inform and update on monthly basis the Board of Directors.
- Work with department heads
- Oversee the implementation of company initiatives, training and activities.
- Delegate responsibilities.
- Execute administrative responsibilities
- Attend meetings, trainings, seminars and conferences where required.
- Travel to different locations both nationally and internationally to forge new collaborative relations and enhance DUCTAC's professional profile and image.
Key Tasks:
- Provide leadership and vision to the organization by assisting the Board and staff with the development of short and long term plans.
- Oversee preparation of monthly Board reports summarizing progress and highlighting items requiring BOM approval.
- Recruitment of company and project staff - including assisting and coordinating both on-boarding and off-boarding procedures
- Employee development, relations and training.
- Assist with policy development and implementation.
- Liaise with Marketing & Sponsorship Manager, Graphic Designer and PR Manager for content, production and distribution of all marketing and publicity materials (posters, program, flyers, mail outs, brochures, etc.)
- Liaise with both the Marketing & Sponsorship Manager and Events Manager in regards to the research and identification of potential future promoters and supporters of the company.
- In collaboration with the Finance Manager, provide assistance in the preparation of annual budget.
- Provide initiation and guidance towards fundraising efforts.
- Assist in the development of forms and tools to increase company efficient and management. Skills:
- A comprehensive and high level of understanding and knowledge of the performing and visual arts.
- Have an advanced understanding and knowledge of Arts Management, planning and associated financial oversight.
- Have and understanding and knowledge of marketing strategies for the performing Arts and Visual Arts.
- A high level of understanding, devising and implementation of Youth Arts Schemes & Educational Programs.
- Have excellent leadership, organizational and supervisory skills.
- A minimum of three years of experience working with a Board of Directors and committees.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a proactively diverse organization.
