Due to continued success in the Qatar we are now seeking to add a Safety Engineer to join an established professional team, committed to technical integrity, innovation and development of its people. This is a site based position.
Role:
The successful candidate will be essential for implementing and promoting a Health & Safety culture on construction sites in Qatar for Faithful+Gould.
The successful candidate will conduct risk assessments to detect potential hazards, plan precautionary measures and ensure closeout.
Responsibilities:
Report to the Project Manager
Manage two Safety Inspectors (Faithful+Gould) staff
Review all high risk activities and ensure appropriate mitigation
Liaise with the contractor’s supervisory staff and ensure that uniform high standards of safety are maintained across all the work activities
Reviewing and approving all risk assessments and method statements.
Escort company directors during Director Safety Tours
Carry out site safety inductions
Monitor safety procedures, determine cause of unsafe condition through procedure review, equipment and facilities inspection, and worker observation with corrective action recommendations provided
Produce weekly/monthly safety reports for the Project Manager
Ensure that works are carried out in a safe manner
Ensure housekeeping regimes are in place
Ensure that the safety of the public is not jeopardized
Ensure adequate and effective Site HSE supervision, by reviewing and monitoring the contractors HSE staff.
Review the contractor’s safety plan and monitor compliance with the plan.
Assist the contractor to manage and mitigate high risk activities
Implement HSE performance management KPI’s, including targets, full and surveillance audits. Requirements:
NEBOSH Diploma
Minimum of 10 years of experience in major projects, including property (high rise residential, hotels, education, hospitals) and infrastructure experience is essential
The successful candidate must be proactive and a passion for safety
Working knowledge of international industry practices/safety/quality management systems.
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to run and manage safety training courses
Minimum of 5 years of Middle East experience is essential
Minimum of 3 years Qatar experience is essential
Experience of working within multicultural teams
IT Literacy with Microsoft Office suite of tools
