Must be available to start immediately and be sponsored by a family member. The Accountant - Bank: is responsible for the reconciliation between the ledger and the bank accounts using manual and automated matching routines. This role will involve working closely with the wider team in Dubai as well as the Finance and Operations departments and at the same time assisting the Bank Reconciliation Supervisor with various finance related matters. - Completing monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, along with research and follow through of outstanding items for assigned accounts; - Analysing and recommending the appropriate general ledger adjustments; - Adhere to established procedures for compliance and efficiency in an effort to reduce outstanding items and bank service charges; - Prepare accurate, timely and complete journal information for the recording of reconciling entries to the appropriate accounts; - Responsible for the identification, accounting and reporting of information related to the reconciliations performed; - Responsible for monthly reconciliations of disbursement suspense accounts; - Prepare and provide recommendations on changes to improve cash reconciliation processes with regard to procedures, coordination between departments, and other practices that would improve operations from an accounting stand point; - Support the Bank Reconciliation Supervisor with information regarding all relevant financial and operating issues, and - Prepare reports special reports upon request. - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred), or Finance, Business Administration, Economics or other related fields; - Minimum 1-2 year experience working in a finance function within a Financial Services or equivalent ; - Demonstrate understanding of bank statement activity (e.g. deposits, checks, charges, in-transit items); - Strong hands-on accounting skills on journal preparation and reconciliation; - Knowledge of general accounting and ability to verify correctness and completeness of information; - Proven ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team, coordinate efforts and collaborate with a variety of individuals; - Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Access etc.) - Knowledge of Oracle or PeopleSoft software experience is highly desirable; Around the world, the MetLife companies offer insurance, retirement and savings products.
