The client is a holding company who are one of the leaders in Mining in the Sultanate of Oman, focusing on Marble, Limestone, Gypsum, Aggregate etc. They are on the lookout for a General Manager for their Heavy Machinery/Transportation subsidiary who supply their services to the rest of the group. Position Grade: General Manager Main Purpose: The position of General Manager (GM) is responsible to Direct, manage and coordinate transportation services activities. The GM is also responsible to lead and direct strategic planning for the transportation services provided by us and effectively manage our executive team. Key Responsibilities: Principal duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: • Prepare and coordinate business planning and decision-making at the executive level to develop a business strategy that aligns with the Holding Groups overall vision and our short-term and long-term business objectives. • To provide monthly and weekly reporting to the CEO on the company's financial performance, bring to the attention any strategic and operational issues affecting the company • Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a team of managers and professionals to achieve established goals by developing and maintaining a high performance team culture through effective performance management, motivation and coaching of managers • Formulation of Annual budget preparation • Ensure, through continual monitoring and auditing, that professional standards are being consistently applied and adhered to • Drive performance and put in place processes, systems and procedures to minimise delays and disruptions to the company • Ensure that all staff are trained/skilled, competent and fit to perform their responsibilities • Ensure that all vehicles, equipment and assets of the company are maintained and the best services are provided to our customers. • Analyse current market/industry trends and formulate strategies for possible expansion and acquisitions that could contribute to our growth. • Ensures good safety practices of employees and guests, assisting in the maintenance of proper emergency and security procedures. • Act as one of our prime spokes person • Implementation of business plans according to the key performance indicators • Working with other holding group subsidiaries to develop and provided services within the group for the overall benefit of all the subsidiaries. Qualification: • Bachelors in Engineering or Logistics or; • Work experience of 10 years in a similar position Knowledge/Skills/Languages: • Excellent Computer and Communications Skills Proven leadership skills with demonstrated ability to articulate the corporate vision and translate that into effective strategic initiatives and operational plans Must be a skilled manager in communicating, motivating and developing staff • Must be able to communicate effectively with third party delivery partners, consultants, contractors and staff • Energetic and with flexibility to respond quickly and effectively to high workloads, unplanned events and emergencies • Excellent analytical reasoning ability and capable of making decisions on complex matters Experience: • Minimum 10 years working in the transportation/leasing industry • Demonstrate business understanding with impeccable integrity AXIZ Consulting is based in the Dubai International Finance Centre and offers a bespoke, highly consultative recruitment service to local and international organisations across the GCC in both professional services and primary industries.
