The Australian College of Kuwait seeks successful and experienced engineering faculty members at lecturer and assistant professor level starting August 2015, to join the Department of Petroleum Engineering. The positions report to the Head of Petroleum Engineering department. Areas of Special interest are petroleum downstream and upstream. The candidate should have capability and willingness to teach diverse generic and specialized Engineering units. - Ph.D. in the area of specialization from an internationally recognized university; - Previous university teaching experience; - Excellent written and oral communication skills; - The ability to communicate effectively with diverse stake-holders. Desirable: - Experience in research, consultancy, and professional activities; - Record of peer-reviewed publications; - Membership of professional and/or academic associations. HIRING CRITERIA: - Lecturer Rank: Fresh PhD graduate with less than 2 years teaching experience. - Assistant Professor: PhD holder with minimum 2 years teaching experience and 3 peer-reviewed journal publications in the last 3 years. You will be requested of the following: - A cover letter summarizing teaching experience; - A copy of the current CV, including nationality, date of birth (for visa purposes), and - The names of three referees, one of which should be an academic supervisor. Salary and Benefits: Competitive - no tax payable in Kuwait. Application Deadline: This position will remain open until filled. About ACK: The Australian College of Kuwait is a private institution providing tertiary-level education to approximately 2500 students in the State of Kuwait. Programmes at ACK lead to vocational diplomas and bachelor degrees in a number of engineering and business disciplines. The language of instruction is English. Each year, approximately 200-300 students are accepted into the engineering degree program. The engineering degree program is delivered in cooperation with internationally recognized universities, and is accredited both locally and internationally. The Australian College of Kuwait has been established under Kuwait Law 34/2000, governing private universities in Kuwait, to provide internationally recognized and accredited education and training to the Business, Engineering, and Maritime sectors. It was licensed by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education under Amiri Decree 141/2003 and commenced operation in October 2004. The Australian College of Kuwait is the vision of its Chairman, Mr. Abdullah Abdul Mohsen Al Sharhan, who knows that the Australian vocational curriculum is the best in the world and has brought these world-leading courses to Kuwait to assist the development of Kuwait and its young people. The Private Universities Council (PUC) oversees the operation of ACK from the government’s perspective and has accredited the College to operate as a provider of higher education courses. Initially offering two-year diploma courses, ACK now has PUC approval to offer degree programs as well. A ‘2+2’ course is available whereby students obtain their diploma in two years and can then continue, if they wish, to study for a further two years to obtain their degree. This arrangement is unique in Kuwait.
