Action Contre la Faim (ACF), is an International Humanitarian Organization which is private, non-political, non-denomination and non-profit making. Action Contre la Faim vocation is to save lives by combating hunger, disease and those crises threatening the lives of vulnerable men, women and children. ACF currently operates in 46 countries globally and conduct programs in nutrition, food security, health, water and sanitation. Drivers Location: Hodeida with Regular travel to the field Duration: Six Months (renewable) with three-month probation period JOB PURPOSE: To safely transport people and assets, and to ensure the maintenance of the vehicle is done according to ACF procedures, under his responsibility. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: Transport people and equipment under good security conditions: When transporting ACF employees, respect the country circulation rules (mission driving rules) and follow the logistician’s planning and instructions; In case of an accident, immediately get in touch with the closest police station and duly inform the logistics department; Follow the instructions of the manufacturer and the ACF rules when using the vehicle; Keep all personal documents as well as those of the vehicle with you and check that they are valid. Respect the security rules and update the Liaison officer on roads blocks or problems if any. To ensure that the passengers respect the security rules esp. with seatbelt fastened while car is travelling ; To ensure the good management of the pick-up/drop the passenger from and to the airport; To help on loading and offloading the car; To keep an eye on the materials on-board the car. Ensure maintenance of the vehicle: Solve minor technical problems. Inform the deputy base Logistician of any major repairs to be carried out; Carry out daily checks before starting up the motor; Ensure the cleanliness of both interior and exterior of vehicle before use; To update the logbook for all the movement and refuelling done; To ensure availability of the tool box is always on-board. (Also the First Aid kit and the Fire Extinguisher to be in the vehicle); and must update status to the attention of Deputy base logistician Prepare departures to the field: Inspect and prepare the vehicle the day before departure so as to be on time; Prepare additional equipment to be brought along according to needs (fuel, drinking water, tools, and medical kit). Keep the phone operator updated about field movement according to the contact schedule defined by logistics. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: Possess a valid driving license plus two (2) years minimum professional experience of driving;; Positive attitude to the job; Ability to communicate in English clearly and effectively ;Mechanical skills ; Negotiating ability ; Rigour ; Punctuality .
